Our Mission

The mission of the TCK Care Accreditation is to empower sending entities to provide quality TCK care through measurable standards.

Our Vision

Our vision is to advocate for consistent, intentional, holistic TCK care by:

  • Providing standards to serve as a metric

  • Evaluating the efficacy of TCK care

  • Developing and equipping sending entities and personnel

Our history

In 2020, Lauren Wells and Bret Taylor met over Peruvian food to discuss something they had both be asked for by many organizations: if TCK Training or Interaction International would put their organization on a “recommended” list based on their quality of family (and TCK, specifically) care. Lauren and Bret felt there needed to be a more concrete way to determine which organizations received a stamp of approval. It was then that the idea of collaborating on an accreditation program was born.

In 2021, the two groups (TCK Training and Interaction International) teamed up to develop standards, processes, and dream about ways that organizations can better support TCKs.

About the TCK Care Accreditation

Organizations sending families into the globally mobile life often ask what they can do to improve family care. Families often ask which organizations they should serve with based on the level of family care. Until now, there has been no measurable way for organizations to evaluate the level of care they provide for Third Culture Kids.

The TCK Care Accreditation Program offers a metric by which organizations can be evaluated on the quality of their TCK care programs. With over 100 different standards, the TCK Care Accreditation Program will evaluate an organization's TCK care program. Regardless of the rating, the organization will be provided with practical ideas on how to further improve the quality of their programs. It is our vision that families will be able to use these certifications to evaluate which organizations will best care for their children throughout their ministry. We anticipate that when families begin looking for this certification, organizations will be further motivated to improve their TCK care programs. By setting a measurable standard, the TCK Care Accreditation Program will raise the bar for TCK care across the world.
